My Story

Growing up in rural central New York much of my formative years were spent in fields and woods experiencing nature. In school my interests tended toward science, math and of course art. College art courses fed and expanded my interests, especially in painting and ceramics. I have worked at a variety of jobs, UPS driver, sculptor's apprentice, welder, cabinet maker and art teacher While carreer choices and raising a family, Natalia and Jake, takes time, creating was always a need. Now in my seventies all these infuences are still inspiring the art being made.

 Home and Studio

My home started as a small house built in 1885 by an onion farmer. in 1933 an addition was added. We moved here in 1985. In 1988 another addition was built to make a comfortable home to raise kids. A small barn in the back yard has become a ceramic studio and workshop. Another small barn is a showroom for the art work.

Style and Philosophy

As one matures it becomes easier to find ones own unique way of doing and living. The approach that evolved is to have a specific vision of what to make. While trying to meet that vision I allow the material and the moment to lead me to a conclusion. Sometimes the result is similar to the idea envisioned. However, the process can lead one down a different path. Often the process will offer up chances that would otherwise be missed. The art may be not of my making but rather seems to be something that moves through me.
